10.10.07 comments on Maid!

This morning 98.8 commented on foreign maids.. I think not only that the number of these ppl are increasing, but also their salary and cost to hire them increased a lot too! They are not cheap, and they are not any better anyway.

Debating about whether we really need them, one or two or three.. ?? One is enough actually.. but this is really depending on your luck if that "one" is good - good in terms of? Let's put simply - up to ones expectation since different family has different expectation and treat their maid differently.

For my family, we started the having-maid-tradition back in about year 2000, when my grandmother whom was staying alone is rather ill and a little im-mobile. And since she refused to stay with us, and we are worry for her safety, we get a maid to live-in with her - cleaning, taking care of her, cooking, etc.

All I could say about maids and its agency is, its not cheap to get one. Look at the cost, my sis recently got one, on the total fees - looking from employment to 2 years period:-

1) Initial agency fee - almost RM6k - even this is the same agency we used way back in 2000, which cost I think Rm3k if I am not mistaken.

2) 2 years salary (normally pay only 19 months instead of 24 as 5 months is already paid in the initial agency fees) = RM500 x 19 = RM 9500 (yes.. its RM500 now!! as compared to RM300 in 2000 - and the quality of them NEVER improve if not worst)

3) 2nd year levy + checkup + fees = about RM800

4) Now, its even worst as the maid's passport is only 3 years as compared to 5 last time!! Renewal for 2nd year is still ok - so let's not put any cost here yet.

So total cost is RM6000 + RM9500 + RM800 = RM16, 300 for 2 years.
If you divide that by 24 months, that comes up to RM679 per month. - and bear in mind that things like accommodation, meals and living essentials is not factored in. I am not sure about others, but for my family, we pay for every single things (well.. almost) they use - even sanitay pad. Let's just say RM200 for all these - total RM879 spent on them per month..... what say you? Would hiring locals be better?

to be continue...

Frustrated with 98.8 eradio

All seems to be ok before the 'change' .... but now, I cannot seems to listen to the live radio anymore. What happened? can we use back the old method ?

Please do something as I am sure there are more people who have the same problem like me--as read in another forum discussing this.
